Sad sight at the Wick on Skomer

A sad sight at the Wick on Wednesday was a dead puffin chick that was dragged out of the burrow by its parent. Some puffins showed interest in the corpse by feeling it with their bills. Interestingly though, the herring gulls didn't take any notice of it.

I think this gallery should be called "Exclusively Puffins"! Some lovely shots by Emma of a subject that she was obviously taken with. See here for her comments and images http://www.andydavies.info/pages/client/emma_healey.html

Superb gallery by Alun Thomas

Have a look at this web gallery by Alun Thomas from the Skomer 19th June workshop. http://www.andydavies.info/pages/client/alun_thomas.html

I think the puffin with sandeels with flapping wings is an absolute cracker! One of the best I have seen from Skomer. Some great inflight shots as well. Well done Alun.

Guillemot, Skomer

We had a great day on the Skomer Workshop yesterday with lots of fun capturing puffins in flight. This shot is of a guillemot on the water at the Wick taken on the Seabird Spectacular in the evening on which I am the wildlife guide. Nikon D800, 300mm, f/8, 1/640sec, ISO 800, exp. comp. -1.3
